Why Should You Vote YES?

When we talk about preparing students for success, it’s not just about textbooks and classrooms—it’s about safety, modern tools, and equal opportunities. This referendum is a chance to give Alexandria students what they need today while securing the foundation for tomorrow. From updated technology and safer buildings to closing the gap with neighboring districts, a “yes” vote means stronger schools, smarter investments, and brighter futures.

Modernizing Technology:

The referendum funds secure, up-to-date technology for students and staff. This means our schools will have the equipment needed for a 21st-century education, and it ensures our kids are learning on the same tools used in today’s workforce.

Student Safety:

A “yes” vote improves secure building systems, which directly enhances student safety. This allows our students to feel safe and focus on learning.

Closing the Gap:

Minnesota doesn’t fund school technology, and while 62 other districts have a dedicated capital levy for this, Alexandria doesn’t. This referendum would bring us in line with neighboring districts and give our students the same resources as their peers.

Dedicated Resources:

This referendum provides stable, dedicated funding for technology and facilities, preventing these costs from draining our district’s general fund. This allows the district to use general fund dollars for other critical needs, like staff and programs.

Low-Cost Investment:

The cost is minimal for a significant gain. It’s a small investment with a low impact on property owners, costing only about $10 per month on an average-valued home.
